Laura began studying astrology in 1999 and casting charts manually for friends and family. She deepened her studies in 2017 to include transit astrology on a monthly basis. During the pandemic, Moretz began reading professionally over Zoom. She now takes limited monthly readings and consultations online

As a writer, Moretz ran her former lifestyle blog, Among the Colors, for 5 years and contributed to 5280 Magazine, The Scout Guide, and Cherry Creek Lifestyle magazine among others. She shares her poetry inspired by astrology transits through her social media and blog. She is currently accepting freelance projects.

artist statement

My paintings are inspired by the movement, rhythm and color found in nature. Water, gravity, time, space, color and line are the subjects at play. These elements sequence themselves in a way that reminds us of what it takes for life to take form. A remembrance of our becoming.

From a micro and a macro level, we are more alike than we are separate. We tend to get stuck in the individuality of it all. The stress of our own nervous system. My paintings serve as a space of meditation to remember our more expansive, universal expression of self.

Through collecting single origin water in nature from rivers, lakes and the ocean during specific moon phases, I bring my practice as an astrologer into the studio. I use this “moon water” to dilute the paints and mix with various mediums throughout an entire painting. This intentionality brings another layer to how I work with nature’s rhythmic cycles in my work.
