in between

light

and darkness

is the magic where

life

and death

flirt with each other

the veil is thin

but just there enough

as a culture,

we get used to our boundaries

we wear them like badges of pride

posturing ourselves in skin and bones

beliefs and politics

occupations and ideals.

but tonight,

this week,

this eclipsed moon..

it’s begging of you to soften

to stretch your identity

beyond your skin

your home

your town

your planet

your solar system.

Your ancestors are holding all these connecting spaces for you.

Offering marigolds across the bridges

of time.

From the dusk after sunset,

lit under a bright Jupiter..

Join them in rejoicing.

We are never apart

anymore than we were ever just our bodies.

Set you skeleton free

and watch it return to you in the morning,

ready to give you the protection you need

in a new, holy world.
